I am fortunate to be taking part in a double blind research study with Imperial College, London. The study is to test the hypothesis that those who were born prematurely (such as I) may have increased risks of high levels of (central adiposity) abdominal fat, fatty liver disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. It will also look at how my current lifestyle and environment can also affect these risk factors.

The study will be very interesting as not only will I undertake a series of blood, hormonal, appetite, eating behaviour psychology and body composition tests, but also a whole body fat scan and brain scans using MRI. These tests are not possible to get by any other mechanism.

Will keep you posted on the results.

Darryl.
